First Christian Church-Eureka

About Us

Who we are...

We are historically "non-denominational" in spirit.  We are a church with no creed.  We are a diverse community that is unified in our commitment to the teachings, healings and visions of Jesus Christ.

We are a church that through study, prayer, worship and action seeks to know God as we learn what it means to love God as we love our neighbor.

We are a church that has been making history in Eureka since 1887.  We are part of a denomination founded on the frontier of the United States.

We are a church ready to move into new frontiers of Christian discipleship centered in the faith, hope and love of Jesus Christ.

Learning Opportunities...

"Wednesday Night Simple Supper and Bible Study."  Supper is served from 6 - 6:30 p.m. in the Sequoia Room with a suggested donation of $2 to help cover the cost of food and is followed by Bible Study from 6:30 - 8 p.m.  All are welcome.

Additional study groups are offered at various times throughout the year.  We also offer an Advent Journaling Group from November-December, and participate in the community Lenten Soup Supper and Study Series on Wednesdays from February-April.  Call the church office for the current schedule.

About Communion...

The sharing of the Lord's Supper is the highpoint of our worship together and is practiced weekly.  At First Christian Church we believe that Christ invites all people to the table, and everyone who hears Christ inviting them is welcome.

Fellowship Opportunities...

Each Sunday following worship we gather together for a time of Fellowship and refreshment.

There are also special activities and gatherings throughout the year including:  youth events, white elephant bingo days, game nights, crazy hat day, dinner & talent night, sing-a-longs and Friday night movies.

Serving our Community...

First Christian Church provides low cost meeting space to several community support groups serving over 500 people each week.

Additionally, our members actively volunteer their time, talent and resources in service to our community beyond the walls of our church building.

At First Christian Church, "Every Sunday is Pantry Sunday."  Donations received are used to supply our weekend food bank and to support "Food for People."

About our Pastor...

Pastor Christine has been affiliated with our congregation since 1976.  She officially joined our church in 1987 and since then has served our church family as an Elder, Choir Leader, Christian Education Coordinator, Bible Study and Retreat Leader, and Church Secretary.

Christine was called to serve our congregation as it's pastor on March 24, 2003.  She completed the Certificate of Ministry Studies Program at Pacific School of Religion in May of 2004.

Christine participates in Eureka Interfaith Fellowship, an ecumenical association of local spiritual leaders and Eureka Host Lions Club.  She is also an active participant in regional ministries within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Northern California and Nevada.

Pastor Christine is a personable, friendly, and creative individual.  Each sunday morning, she shares positive and upbeat messages of hope, firmly rooted in the teachings of Christ.  While always keeping in mind God's gentle grace and unconditional love, Pastor Christine challenges us to live out Christ's great commandment to "love one another."
